T-Minus Two Days
Tuesday, April 25- two days before liftoff. Tom and I will soon hike across one of the skinnier sections in the north of England along the Coast to Coast trail. Get your Google maps out or have Siri find you St. Bees, our starting point on the Irish Sea in the west, and then our ending point at Robin Hood's Bay on the North Sea in the east. Draw a squiggly line connecting these two dots across the country through three national parks: the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors and there you have the C2C journey! To get in shape and shake down our gear, we've logged a total of about 240 miles of hiking and walking over the last three and a half months. Sounds rather impressive until we remember our upcoming journey will take us 190 miles in just over two weeks. Yikes! To give you a sense for that distance for those who live in the NW, it's like walking from Bremerton to Yakima via Highway 3 to 16 to I-5 to Hwy 18 to 1-90 and etc. We are now gathering our moleskin, merino wool undies, power cords, odd trail snacks (thank you, Grocery Outlet!) and hopefully our wits in these last few days to prep. Stay tuned for our next installment!
