Leaving a Beautiful Place
After a super crummy April (weather-wise), we’ve just had 2 gorgeous spring days here in the Northwest. Today, our leaving day, was one of them- close to 80 degrees. Our one-hour ferry ride was uneventful (no groundings on a beach on Bainbridge), yet spectacular. The still snowy Olympics loomed over Bremerton, Mt. Rainier was in full glory and the Sound sparkled. Tom said, “We do live in one of the most beautiful places!” Thinking back on my first post, we decided the England Coast to Coast path analogy of walking from Bremerton to Yakima resonated with many in our area but we needed an equivalent for those of you in other regions of the U.S. Ok, so, here goes: our walk will be about the same as walking the following distances 1. from Portland to Seattle, 2. from Groton, CT to Boston (and back), 3. Asheville, NC to Atlanta, GA, 4. New York City to Philadelphia (and back). 5. WA DC to Norfolk, VA via Richmond. This is a fun game- any other nearly 200 mile routes out there?
