Bright Spot Added in Downtown Bremerton
The back wall of Peninsula Community Health Service's downtown Bremerton clinic is looking a little more nautical after a volunteer painting effort created a new mural Saturday. The 181-foot wall along Dr. ML King Way just off Pacific Avenue had been a drab gray until neighbor and artist Erica Applewhite pitched an idea for a community illustration that PCHS leadership endorsed. Applewhite sketched the giant octopus drawing, interspersed with scenes of Bremerton and ocean imagery, and community members spent the day filling in between the lines with colorful paint. There was a neighborhood block party held along with the effort, with food, music and an octopus photo stand to pair with the theme.
